About us
BoASC is a friendly sailing club just up river from Bradford on Avon in a beautiful setting. Since 1965, we have been gathering on this stretch of the Avon river and enjoying the competition & friendly rivalry that comes from racing on a Sunday afternoon. We commence racing in early March and run through until end October opening for racing from 2pm (2 races of 1-hr with an interval tea & cake social). We also open at 10:30 hrs on Sundays after the “Try Sailing” week-end until the end of August for novice and juniors sessions to develop skills (Informal “Challenge” Races). We also hold other meetings and Away Days.
WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING TO ATTRACT NEW MEMBERS FROM EXPERIENCED RACERS TO NOVICES – COME AND JOIN US AND HELP EXPAND OUR SPORT TO MORE PEOPLE IN WEST WILTS.
We have a Clubhouse with Dinghy Park for Members Dinghies. We also have a range of Club Dinghies (RS Vision, Laser, Laser Pico, Topper, & Optimist) that are available to Club Members for a notional daily charge.
In the springtime, we offer an introductory 2-day Week-end “Try Sailing” course to get you started – this is specifically designed for those people looking to become members of the club early on in the season.
We have the following classes racing within the Club: Laser, Rooster 8.1, Solution, Solo, RS 200, RS Aero, RS Vision, Mirror, Laser Pico & Topper classes.
We have taken part in Barts Bash each year and raised over £1,000 for the Andrew Simpson Foundation. BoASC is a double Bart’s Bash “Guinness Book of Records Race” Record holder:
-
-
- The narrowest sailing area
- Class Champion with the Yamaha Seahopper.
